I have been wanting to visit Zokoko for quite a while as it is always written up in the Good Food Guides and Good Cafe Guides (it received 1 cup last year). But I've never been in the vicinity of Emu Heights until last weekend. We were on our way to pick up some birds (chickens not emus) at Luddenham, so we decided to swing on by - actually it was kinda out of the way but it's amazing what lengths one will go to for good coffee and even better chocolate.
There's not much really at Emu Heights (certainly no emus) and Zokoko is located in an industrial setting. I got quite a giggle when we pulled up in front of Zokoko and discovered that its neighbour was Contours (you know one of those lady only gyms)! So how's that for workout motivation - you do you half hour on the machines at Contours then drop in next door for a coffee....and a sweet morsel.....or is that just something that I would do?
Anyway Zokoko is seriously the home of expensive Goddess chocolate. It's that chocolate which makes you think twice about eating Cadbury ever again...but then you realise that your budget probably cannot sustain Goddess chocolate for too long. An 85g bar costs $10.00. Luckily their coffee and sweet bakes are affordable.
Zokoko's coffee comes in the loveliest of cups for adults and their babycinos ($1) are served in takeaway coffee cups.
There isn't a menu, this is just a place where you go for coffee & cake or coffee & chocolate - just what this Goddess needs, except she had her little bulls along for the explore and of course they need satiating!
These gorgeous little bears cost $3.50 and were divine! Luckily for me the chocolate was a little bit too rich for my boys so I got to finish them.
There is plenty of room for prams and they have a basket of very interesting kids books to keep your little ones occupied whilst you muster your inner Goddess. You can also watch the process of chocolate being created as the cafe also doubles as a factory (hence its industrial location).
Now here's a naughty thought - Contours always have a free 5 day trial (I know I attempted it once) so you could go and do a work out (for free) and then go and indulge (without guilt) your inner Goddess with some divine coffee and chocolate next door at Zokoko x
