There are loads of cafes located along Military Road, but trying to find a park anywhere along this seriously busy road is a nightmare - especially if you have to unload yourself, the kidlets and a pram.
However if you go one street back in Cremorne, you will find much easier street parking as well as a council car park. And there is a decent cafe called Siborg right there for you to have your daily caffeine fix in. This cafe has loads of outdoor seating as well as space for you and your mates to park your prams - in other words it is an ideal hang for Mothers groups. Indoor seating is also available in case the weather turns foul.
There is also a lot of room for kids to wander around outside at Siborg Cafe. You will of course have to keep a close eye on wandering toddlers as this cafe is obviously located on a street. If you are struggling to control your little people, perhaps either put them in a high chair or move inside where you will find comfy lounges to sit on. There is also a handicapped toilet located out the back door of the cafe in case you need to take your pram and other kids all at once.
When we dined at breakfast time, our lads happily played tag around the garden beds next to where we sat, whilst we inhaled our morning cup of joe. The coffee is nice and strong at Siborg, I'm sure it will give you all the buzz that you need to survive the day with active kidlets. There is also a decent selection of tea choices available for non coffee drinkers, as well as hot chocolates, fresh juices, frappes, smoothies and shakes. There are self help water stations located both inside and outside the cafe.
The menu at Siborg covers all of your cafe favourites perfectly. And the best bit is that nothing costs north of $18.00, which is a rarity in this part of Sydney. Breakfast is served all day and lunch is from 11am, so you can enjoy an early lunch with your babes before their middle of the day nap. I love the excellent selection of healthy salads on the lunch time menu - I wish more cafes committed themselves to the salad cause!
Whilst there isn't a kids menu at Siborg, there are a couple of things little humans will like to eat off the main menu, as well as a range of yummy baked goodies and fruit salad in the front counter. Our boys had freshly baked choc chip muffins for breakfast - there aren't any reheated day old muffins at this cafe. Some other options might include sharing the pancakes or scrambled eggs on toast at breakfast time. And for lunch they could perhaps share a burger or a risotto.
Our scrambled eggs on very well cooked toast ($11.00) were light and fluffy, and the side of bacon that came with one of the serves was very generous, which made up for the smaller serve of eggs.
I need to comment on the service at Siborg - it was brilliant. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left, we received fast and friendly service which is exactly what you need when dining out with children. The cafe was fairly quiet when we dined early on a Sunday morning, so our meals came out quickly from the kitchen too. And Siborg opens really early in the morning so it is the perfect spot to drop by for brekkie when your kidlets wake at the crack of dawn.
Siborg Cafe is located just around the corner from the Cremorne Orpheum Cinema and they regularly host Mums & Bubs movie sessions - so why not grab your friends and have a movie/coffee date some time soon!
