I've seen some pretty cute babycinos is my travels all over Sydney, I've even written an article about it - The Sydney Babycino Guide. And so far I think Penrith has the cutest of all. Rogue Valley Roasters, located in the Westfield Shopping Centre has created the below babycino for their little patrons and I reckon even your non babycino drinking kidlets would love to be able to woof one of these down!
One of my lovely readers sent me a photo last year of her darling boy enjoying one of these delights, so when I went to Little Munch Penrith with my boys during the school holidays, we road tested not only the babycino but the whole cafe for lunch. Being located inside a shopping centre it means that the parking, pram access and baby change table issues of dining out with kids are all sorted. And the other big bonus is that the cafe is right next to Target so you can pop in for a quick shop afterwards (if that is even possible with kidlets).
When we arrived at lunch time the outside was really busy, so we sat inside where it was a wee bit quieter. As soon as our bottoms landed on our seats, a lovely young waitress had brought table water (with melamine tumblers), colouring in pencils & paper, as well as kids menus to the table! Immediately impressed I knew we were going to be in for a great experience.
Clearly they care about kids at Rogue Valley Roasters - not only is their babycino magnificent but so is their kids menu. They have both the usual deep fried suspects as well as yummy healthy options. The boys shared a leg ham sandwich and the watermelon and strawberry skewers. This was the perfect light meal to accompany their decadent babycinos. I love the sound of the Kids Platter too - loads of healthy deliciousness! Kids have their own drinks menu - the babycinos are $2.00, milkshakes are $3.50 and a freshly squeezed juice is $4.50.
The main menu is separated into All Day Breakfast, Clubs, Melts, Salads, Burgers, Snacks & Main Meals. All menu items are reasonably priced (averaging $10 -$20) and my Duck, Pickled Radish & Pistachio Salad was divine - the kind of dish I would love to know how to recreate at home. Portion sizes are very generous and al the dishes that I saw coming out of the kitchen had that extra little bit of pizazz - I think what I am trying to say is that Rogue Valley Roasters is so much better than your typical shopping centre cafe.
I'm really sorry but I didn't taste test their coffee, I was a bit caffeined out after having already had 3 that morning. Their website states: "We roast our coffee daily on premises to ensure freshness & premium quality. Our baristas are highly trained industry professionals with a genuine pride in the product they serve you." So I am assuming that their coffee is top notch! They also stock T2 teas and create some wicked looking milkshake type concoctions too!
The service at the Rogue Valley Roasters was super friendly and really fast. All the staff were so nice to the boys and the boys keep asking me when can we go back to have one of their awesome babycinos again! My little food critics certainly are becoming babycinos connoisseurs.
So Little Munchers have you seen a cuter babycino in your travels?
