I have to admit that I am a bit of a coffee snob and more often than not walk straight past cafes in shopping centres unless they make one of my preferred brands of coffee. And that is exactly what I have been doing with Pronto Rocks Cafe in the Westfield Shopping Centre at North Rocks for the last couple of years. Now this shopping centre is home to 2 of my favourite stores - Kmart and Brentwood Interiors. I love Kmart because it is soooo cheap and love Brentwood Interiors because it is soooo posh! I always try to pop over to North Rocks when the little bulls are at preschool so that I have time to browse. If I have the boys in tow, they have to touch every toy that is in Kmart and there is no way that they would be allowed in Brentwood Interiors, cause you guessed it, they would be like bulls in a china shop.
However today I had a little emergency that required me to go to Kmart and therefore I had to take the little bulls with me. I had a plan in my mind to be in and out like a flash and straight home. You would have thought after being a Mumma for 5 years that I would have realised that nothing ever goes to plan when you have kids. I got what I needed real quicks at Kmart but the little bulls insisted on touching every flippin toy in the place and because some lunatic in the world of marketing believes that Christmas stuff needs to be put out in September, there were more than the usual number of toys in Kmart. After they had felt up all the toys, I dragged the little bulls out of Kmart kicking and screaming. One of them escaped from me and made a beeline for the little playground that is in the middle of the shopping centre. Pronto Rocks Cafe is right in front of this playground, so there was nothing for it I had to resign myself to partaking in some of their coffee.
Surprisingly it was good, very good in fact. I sat in relative peace and quiet, drank my coffee (which was quite decent and a brand I had never heard of) and the little bulls played in the playground! I had perfect sight of them at all times and I could sit and gaze at all the lovely things in the window of Brentwood Interiors!
With their FBI eyes, the little bulls spied a babycino that was being served to another child and therefore decided that do actually like babycinos again - I completely understand why - they were so cute! The tiny teddy, jelly bean and 100 & 1000s on top were very tempting additions.
Pronto Rocks have a dedicated children's menu that covers snacks to proper meals. They also have a ranges of bottled juice drinks available for kids - the ones that have Spiderman, Dora and Bob the Builder all over them.
And they offer a very tempting range of sweet delights for both kiddliwinks and adults, the little bulls were very delighted with their marshmallow tea cups!
Adults will be more than satisfied with the food on the main menu. Pronto Rocks is open daily for breakfast and lunch as well as dinner on a Thursday evening. The menu has an Italian flavour with paninis, pizzas and pastas dominating. The prices of meals range from $10.00 for a panini up to $24.00 for a pizza that could easily feed two.
If you need to do some shopping once you have finished your coffee, you can hire a kiddie cruiser from the Concierge Desk for $7.50/hr for a double which may help keep your kids restrained. There is a parents room in the centre with toilets, private feeding rooms, baby change tables, bottle warmers and microwave. This is located right next to a brilliant toy store called 5 Senses Education. If you really can't cope shopping with your kids - why not put them into the Casual Child Care Centre that is located on the lower level of the centre - hello Christmas shopping!
So dear parents, I learnt a valuable lesson in snobbery today - I should just forget it. There is always a chance that I may be walking past a little gem without knowing it and what a waste that would be x
