Kellyville Pets is our boredom buster - it's kinda like a museum/mini zoo/cafe all rolled into one. Boys (and I'm sure most little girls) love dinosaurs and they are lurking everywhere around the place at Kellyville Pets. Kids also love animals and at Kellyville Pets they can get up close and personal with all sorts of furry animals, reptiles, critters, noisy birds and rodents (for free).
There is loads of parking and it is super easy to access both the cafe and pet store with a pram. There is a toilet on site with a baby change table and you can also bring along your fur baby as they are welcome with open arms and even have their very own doggy bowl in the cafe. And if pooch is in need of a check up or a blow dry they can have both, as there is a vet and also a DIY doggie wash on site.
Nest Cafe is the appropriately named cafe that is at the front of the pet store. It has recently been overtaken by the owners of Red Estate Espresso. This means that one can now find a seriously good coffee there, and even if pets and dinosaurs aren't your thing, I thoroughly recommend that you drop by just to try out the coffee! And for those of you with dietary intolerances, they offer lactose free, almond and soy milk options for your brew.
The cafe set up is simple and under cover. There is plenty of space so a visit by your mums group would be ideal. You order and pay at the counter and then collect your meal once it's ready. Morning time is our favourite time to visit and they normally have scrolls, banana bread, muffins and cookies available to munch on. As I mentioned previously the coffee is brilliant and their babycinos cost 80 cents and ours came with 3 marshmallows!
The food menu contains bacon & egg rolls, various toasties and wraps, a seasoned steak roll, as well as gourmet pies, sausage rolls, quiches and chicken nuggets for baby dinosaurs. All of the menu items are under $8.00 so the hip pocket won't be hurt too much! You can also have an ice cream or all sorts of icy cold frappes, milkshakes and more, to cool you down, and they come in small and large sizes which is perfect for both adults and kids.
When we finish our morning tea, we head into the pet store and oogle over all the birdies, fishies, puppies, mice, ferrets, kittens and snakes. They even normally allow us to touch the slithery little creatures! The boys have no fear stroking the lovely spotted pythons (all I can think of is - my, wouldn't you make a lovely handbag! Oops!) x
Kellyville Pets offer free school holiday activities, so make sure you follow them on FB to see what is on offer - they really are the prefect cheap boredom buster for families!
