Little Munchers, we're a tad excited to tell you about our latest discovery! It's a bit of a hidden gem in Waterloo, and it has quite a few kid friendly features, and loads and loads of the most delicious sweet treats that you will ever see! Without further ado, let us introduce you to La Renaissance Patisserie and Cafe.
If you have visited The Rocks before, you may have been to La Renaissance in Argyle St. Well this is its sister patisserie, and it still sells all of the same divine looking and tasting tarts, cakes and other baked delights. But this venue has so much more space, and it is a lot quieter so you don't have fight with the hordes of tourists for a table, like you have to in The Rocks.
And this is why I like the Waterloo venue so much - the space! You coud easily fit a whole herd of prams in here, so it is an ideal venue to catch up with your Mums Group. The access into the cafe is also very easy with a pram and there are high chairs, in case you need to restrain any little ones. The toilets are located upstairs (there is also a lift in case you want to take your pram up). And yes there's a baby change table!
La Renaissance is actually located in the PYD Building in Waterloo, which is an Interior Design Centre, and home to some very luxe looking businesses. There's parking available in the building's carpark, as well as a decent amount of street parking. Once you are inside the patisserie, you pay and order at the front counter, and you will find a large menu hanging on the side wall.
The major drawcard foodwise at La Renaissance is definitely all of the delish sweet treats, but they have a very reasonably priced savoury selection of food as well. I don't think that there are many places in Sydney where you can have Avo Smash with 2 Poached Eggs on Sourdough for $11.00! And their Croque Monsieur is perfect, as is the Pork, Veal & Fennel Sausage Roll.
La Renaissance doesn't have a dedicated kids menu, however there are loads of options for kids to eat - Fruit Salad, Banana Bread, Toast & Jam, Eggs on Toast etc.
And of course they will love all of the sweet stuff on offer - the petit tarts are a good option for small bellies (or those of us who may be "dieting").
Now on to the all important coffee! It's perfectly brewed and also perfectly presented! They use Little Marionette Coffee, and if you are a caffeine addict, you will be tempted to have more than one, that's for sure. There are also babycinos for our bambinos, as well as juices, soft drinks and of course table water.
So Little Munchers, next time you need to catch up with your mum pack, or your friends with offspring, we can thoroughly recommend La Renaissance in Waterloo. Make sure however that no one is on a diet, because it would be cruel to subject them to the beauty of all those sweet treats!
