Kellerman's Cafe - Enmore

Sunny Sydney Sundays, there's nothing better and as a family of course you spend them in a park. Now to be honest with you, I seriously get bored of going to the park with my kids. The repetition of pushing my child on a swing for minutes on end does my head in. So to keep the boredom at bay I always try to find a new park to go to and most importantly it has to have a cafe near by (so that I can stimulate myself with some caffeine) and if that cafe happens to be ultra kid friendly, than booyah!

We hit the jackpot big time last Sunday when we took the boys to Enmore Park. Not only is this a fabulous park, but it also has 2 great cafes in very close vicinity. Petty Cash Cafe is across the road from the park and Kellerman's Cafe is literally right in the middle of the park. We chose Kellermans as my little men have a tendency to wander off when they get bored at cafes and we felt it was safer for them to do that in the park rather than on the road.

Kellerman's Cafe is named after Annette Kellerman. Now I had no clue who she was so I did bit of research. I am quite amazed that I had not heard of Annette as she was such an incredible woman - she's Dawn Fraser kind of incredible, but more so. This woman could seriously swim and she did it in an era when woman's swimming was virtually non existent, she even got arrested for it! Kudos to you Annette!

I should mention here that Kellermans is actually attached to the Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre. So you can cover a few bases - park, cafe and swim - all perfect activities for a beautiful sunny day. The aquatic centre is indoors and has a fantastic splash pool for kids. (There is also a crèche inside the aquatic centre, so if you are desperate for a wee bit of "me" time you can always drops the kids in there and have a quiet lunch or dip in the pool by yourself).

Back to the cafe - it's bright, it's breezy and it belts out some mighty fine tucker. You can sit inside or out, but clearly, on a sunny day you will choose the latter as you will want to keep an eye on your kids running wild in the park - but that's up to you cause who am I to tell you how to parent! Actually if you want to be out in the park with your kids, the staff will bring your meal to you - just don't sit in the rocket ship as they may find it a bit hard to see you.

The food at Kellermans is cheap - cha ching! So your little visit to the park doesn't have to turn into an expensive outing. We were after a late lunch so Mr Munch and I went for the steak sandwiches. The boys had already eaten and were more keen on running around like little maniacs so we didn't order them anything. However the kids meals are really cheap and they also sell yoghurt, fruit salad and a great selection of cupcakes if you want something a bit lighter. They do a very decent brew of Toby's Estate coffee for parents and loads of soft drinks, juices and milkshakes for kids. There are also lots of lollies, ice creams and chips for your kids (or yourself) to OD on too if you need a junk food fix.

Now a few more bits and bobs I should mention: there is a crate full of kids books inside the cafe to amuse your little ones if for some reason they don't enjoy parks; there is a loo on the side of cafe, but sadly no baby change table; there are loads of high chairs and loads of room for prams; you order at the counter, take a number and the staff bring out your meals; and lastly you can have your kid's birthday party here for $10.00 per child.

So if you're sick of your local park and the locals that go with it, than I suggest dear parents that you head on down to Enmore Park, let the kids run wild and get yourself some decent tucker at Kellerman's cafe, booyah!

Tell me dear parents if there is a cafe near your local park so that Little Munch can relieve her boredom next time she has to go parking x
