Well isn't this a little gem!
I found out about this cafe by doing a Google search for child friendly cafes in the north shore. It was described as being located between 2 playgrounds - and it sure was. Its actual location is in a suburban strip of shops - in between all of those lovley north shore shacks.
This is the ideal cafe for parents to sit and relax and maybe even get a read of the weekend papers in. The reason being is that your kidlets can be roaming straight in front of you in a safe little park, climbing some stunning old trees or playing on the playground equipment which is also in front of the cafe.
Tables are both inside and out - so be sure to nab an outside one as it would have been a bit tricky to keep an eye on your kids from inside. As you know dear parents as soon the littlies spot a playground there is no way you are going to get them to sit still in their chairs.
The menu sounds oh so yum and a big tick - they have a "bambini's " menu and they do a very sensible babycino in a takeaway cup. The cup comes half full with a plastic spoon and it is more like a hot chocolate but it doesn't have any fringe benefits. Cost $1.20.
The bambini's menu included the usual fare of nuggets & chips, pizza, fish & chips, pasta etc and they cost $10 - $12 which included a lemonade or hot chocolate. The little bull's pizza came on a yummy looking pita base with loads of ham and pineapple topping.
To be honest with you the boys were so busy running around the park they didn't eat much of their food, so warning - don't order your kidlets too much.
Deli in the Park Cafe (there is a deli inside the cafe) is open from 7am, 7days serving brekkie and lunch and they also open during the summer months for dinner on Fri & Sat nights from 5pm, so it's an ideal option when dining out with your littlies of an evening.
The only other negative was the loo. You have to walk through the cafe's kitchen to out the back where you find a small loo that had a few blow flies buzzing around. My littlest bull thought they were bees and wouldn't do his bizz in there. And for parents of bambinis - there ain't no change table either.
Luckily for us, the little bulls were worn out after their big play, so we had one very peaceful trip back home! And yes I agree with Google, Deli In The Park is most definitely one of the North Shore's most child friendly cafes x
ps: the photos for this cafe somehow were lost in translation when I created the new Little Munch website, so hopefully I can get back there one day soon to take some pics.
