The Blu Water Grill has been operating in Hornsby for many years now, and it's been a favourite pit stop of ours when we are in the area to do a spot of shopping, or have medical appointments to attend. You'll find this beaut cafe on the outside of the Westfield Shopping Centre - directly opposite the fabulous Water Clock fountain in the pedestrian mall.
Blu Water Grill is large and is always full of families eating at breakfast, lunch and dinner! They open at 7.30am every day, so during the week there is a steady stream of commuters popping in for a takeaway coffee as well as bleary eyed parents in desperate need of a caffeine fix. There is parking in the Westfield, so you can bring your pram along if you need to. There is pram access and also some room to park near your table, but when this place is full (which it is quite often) it may be difficult to manoeurve it around. There are plenty of high chairs available if you would prefer to restrain your little one that way. Blu Water has its own loo and there are also family rooms with baby change tables just over in the Westfield.
There is full table service at Blu Water Grill and as soon as we were seated by a super friendly member of the staff, an activity sheet which doubles as a menu, was presented to each of my lads (as was a tub of crayons). The activity sheet has colouring in and find a words on it. The boys were occupied for our entire lunch, which meant I have a rather delightful and stress free lunch for once! And their Ice Cream Spider (which came in a disposable cup), probably helped to keep them distracted as well.
Now the kids menu is impressive. It covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. To kick start the day the kids can have a bowl of cereal (such as Coco Pops, Rice Bubbles or Cornflakes), toast, fruit salad, porridge, pancakes and the list goes on! They can even just have a hash brown if they so choose.
For lunch and dinner they can have something simple like a vegemite sandwich or a cheese and tomato sandwich. And there are more substantial items like spaghetti bolognaise or a beef burger with a choice of curly fries or salad. This my friends is why there are always so many families in Blu Water Grill, and because they are also reasonably priced. The kids menu costs between $2.50 - $9.00, depending on how hungry your little tackers are.
.The big people's menu is mouth watering and huge. At breakfast time all of your cafe favourites feature and then at lunch time you can have a delicious and healthy salad, or pasta or burgers or panino and even tapas! The dinner menu is similar to the lunch time one, and as Blu Water is fully licensed you can enjoy a vino too. I didn't sample the coffee, but they brew Will & Toby beans and their toddlercino will set you back $1.50. Tea lovers will be impressed with the selction of T2 teas on offer, and one of those would be perfect after one of Blu Water's mouthwatering desserts - Eton Mess and Lemon Sorbet with limoncello would be my choices.
So my dear Little Munchers, if you find yourself in Hornsby, and need a peaceful lunch (or breakfast or dinner), then pop into the Blu Water Grill where they will look after you and your babes all day long.
