One of Little Munch's favourite cafes in West Pennant Hills has new owners and a new name. The very kid friendly Cosy Nook Cafe is no longer, it is now called Bella Mondo Cafe & Restaurant - and thankfully it still have its cute kids play area and it has an interesting new kids menu.
Bella Mondo Cafe & Restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem, so to find it you need to park in the car park of Coles on Pennant Hills Rd at Thompson's Corner in West Pennant Hills - this is best accessed from Castle Hill Rd (so look at a map or use your GPS if you ain't a local). The cafe is in Thorbys Arcade on the left, half way down and it is all easily accessed with a pram.
The best feature of this cafe is its kids play area. Brightly coloured farm yard murals cover the walls, there are boxes of toys, books and puzzles, a massive chalk board and tables and stools for little bottoms to sit at. It is basically one fun space for kids to occupy themselves whilst their parents sit back and enjoy their coffee. The area is also completely secured with thick glass panelling so you can always spy on what your little ones are up to.
The rest of the cafe is quite spacious and there is a decent amount of room for prams - it's the perfect hang for your mother's group. There are different sized table settings around the cafe so you can meet up with small or large groups of friends and there are even some comfy lounges where you can sit back and relax (just be careful you don't end up having a Nanna nap!). High chairs are also available and there is a loo in the cafe but it doesn't contain a baby change table.
The new menu is HUGE at Bella Mondo. All of your favourite breakfast staples are covered and at lunch time they serve up sandwiches, wraps, toasties, burgers, pasta, salads and hot meals in every shape and form! Your hip pocket won't be damaged too badly as most of the meals are under $15.00.
And kids now have their very own menu which has some healthy and some not so healthy options:
Bella's Junior Meals
They serve a strong brew of Bay Coffee now at Bella Mondo, so if you need a caffeine jolt to start your day, this is the place for you. They also have a fresh juice bar if you need a vitamin hit. For kids, babycinos are available but my little mate was a wee bit disappointed that the marshmallow was missing in action! If your bambinos have outgrown babycinos, hot chocolates, pop tops and shakes are on the menu. I noticed some sweet kidlets on the next table slurping on milkshakes that came in disposable containers, so that always gets a big tick from me.
There is absolutely nothing pretentious about Bella Mondo - it's a good old fashioned cafe. As much as I love a trendy hipster style cafe, they're not always that child friendly. Sometimes their regulars aren't really that happy dining alongside kidlets who are prone to tantrums, melt downs and hissy fits. So luckily there are old fashioned cafes like this that are welcoming of children, where you can go and not feel the pressure to make your kids behave like the perfect little angels that they aren't x
