Arthur Street Cafe is definitely a neighbourhood gem.
It's the sort of cafe that locals want to keep a secret (and I'm one of those locals). We want to keep it a secret because it is such a warm and inviting place. It's a place where everyone is welcomed with a smile and where you are fuelled with excellent coffee and home made food.
And above all, Arthur Street Cafe loves kids!
See the owner - a lady called Jo has two kids, and understands the needs of dining out with children. She has a shelf of toys for them to play with, a baby change table in the loo and a brilliant kids menu.
This kids menu has everything on it from a simple Vegemite sandwich to fancy French toast with ice cream, maple syrup & berries. Everything on the menu costs less than $10.00 and the bigger meals all come with a kid size juice or shake included in the price. And those drinks come with a snake twisted around the straw. And if you babes require another sweet treat they can also have ice cream and sprinkles ($3.50).
And speaking of sweet treats all of Arthur Street Cafe's delicious cakes, slice and biscuits are home baked - nothing mass produced here. They are those sort of old fashioned cakes like your Nanna used to make and golly gosh they are nourishing for the soul. From chocolate cake to pistachio and lemon slice there are so many choices to accompany your very well brewed Adore coffee.
At breakfast you must try the French Toast with Poached Pears and at lunch time the Pulled Pork Roll with a side of Sweet Potato chips is your go to meal. Actually I've sampled quite a few of the lunch time meals by now, and they are all really good - even the salads! And they go very well with one of the house made sodas like kaffir lime and mint.
The only thing I haven't tried at Arthur Street Cafe, is their new High Tea. Served every day from 11am - 2.30 (book in advance) high tea is available for both adults ($35) and kidlets ($20). And if you would like to have your own private party, you can hire the room downstairs just for you and your crew.
You will find Arthur Street Cafe away from the hustle and bustle of Baulkham Hills Junction in the Arthur Street Shops. Street parking is available but can be limited during peak periods. There is seating inside and out, but it is probably safer to sit inside with wandering toddlers. If you have a pram, you will have to negotiate a couple of steps up into the cafe. The toilet with baby change table is downstairs and there are high chairs available for your little ones.
So Little Munchers, when you visit Arthur Street Cafe, check out all the patrons very closely, as you'll probably see me and the boys hanging around in there - and make sure you come up and say hi!
